Adding Sewer Hose Storage To Your RV
You may need to store a longer “stinky slinky” than your RV’s bumper can hold. Often the hose will come with a storage bag. You might not have room inside your home to store this smelly hose and you probably don’t want to. Here are some ways to add sewer hose storage to your RV, travel trailer, or tiny home.
Several Sewer Hose Storage Ideas From Our Friends at RV Share Including This One:
Attach a 5″ diameter length of PVC pipe under your vehicle. Use plumbers tape and self-tapping sheet metal screws to affix in place. You can use a long bolt across the end (shown) to keep the hose from sliding out while traveling. Drill a bunch of drain holes along the bottom side of the pipe.
Here’s another idea that uses a 5″ fence post with a section of rain gutter inside.
This one is a bit more complex to construct but it eliminates the uncertainty that it won’t fit. With this design it just lays neatly into the rain-gutter trough. I also like the section that holds a pipe adapter.
Because it’s made of vinyl, everything can be easily cleaned by just hosing it off. Make sure you use stainless steel screws or aluminum pop rivets for construction so they don’t rust.
The cost of parts will be around $75.00. See more here on the Weekend RV Adventures blog where it was originally posted.
Super-Tube Sewer Hose Carrier
Here’s an adjustable hose carrier you can bolt on just about anywhere.
This versatile Super-Tube can be mounted under carriage or under the frame tongue. Super-Tube opens on both ends for super-easy access. Unlike screw-in plugs, which often bind and stick, our built-in mounting bracket/hatch assembly features roadworthy hatch-type doors with a positive latch that operates easily in tough, dirty undercarriage environments. The Super-Tube’s roomy 4.625 inch diameter allows for storage of sewer hoses with fittings attached or is the ideal place to stow fishing poles and similarly shaped gear. The Super-Tube is made of tough heavy-duty black polymer that will blend perfectly with the RV.
Here’s a YouTube® video showing the use of a plastic fence post attached under the RV with the entrance in the sewer connection compartment.
Use a large enough fence post, like a 5″, to accommodate the fitting on the end of the sewer hose. Use L-brackets to attach to RV frame out of sight. Drill tiny holes along the bottom side to allow drainage but prevent entrance to bugs. Use fence post end caps to secure the ends.
In the video he sticks it thru the storage compartment about an inch so the end cap will pop on. Paint it black to conceal it better.
I’ve seen fancier contraptions but I always feel the simpler the better.
Storage For the Larger Ends Available Today:
There are some really nice stinky slinky ends and cleaning adapters available like the Camco Rino Blaster shown here. These are great but just too big to fit in your bumper or the PVC tube shown above.
I strapped a heavy duty plastic tool box on the bumper with ratchet straps and it work for many years until the plastic deteriorated.
Then I purchased a PVC electrical junction box and bolted it to the underside of my RV where it’s out of sight but can still be reached. This box is inner size is (approx.): 10.4″ x 6.6″ x 5.1″ which just fits the Camco Rino Blaster. Find the size you need and look around for a place to bolt it to. There’s actually quite a bit of available space under an RV or travel trailer.
More Under-Chassis Storage:
Make use of that huge space under your RV with an under-chassis storage box.
The detachable storage boxes bolt on to the RV chassis (hardware not included) and are perfect for cables, cleaning supplies and other miscellaneous camping items.
- Spring-loaded latch allows storage compartment to easily slide in and out
- Rust-inhibitive coating on steel parts
- Includes two detachable molded storage boxes
- Optional easy access spare tire carrier
- Each storage bin can store up to 100 pounds
Two sizes available
Standard storage bin dimensions: 8.13″D x 19.13″W x 96″H
Large storage bin dimensions: 99-1/2″ long x 19-1/8″ wide x 8-1/4″ deep
Here’s an interesting storage solution for sewer hose storage:

Here’s A Great Idea From Camco
Every time I go to the dump station my stinky slinky has slid way into the bumper. It’s a real pain to get it out. This new magnetic bumper cap is the perfect solution. Camco’s Magnetic RV Bumper Cap allows you to easily remove your sewer hose from your RV’s bumper. The bayonet end of your sewer hose locks onto the cap, which pulls out the sewer hose when you remove it and also stops the hose from sliding around in the bumper. It features high-strength neodymium magnets that keep the bumper cap in place; small vent holes provide airflow and double as an insect screen. The magnetic bumper cap is compatible with most metal 4-inch square bumpers and the lugs are compatible with any Camco bayonet-style sewer hose fitting. Includes a bonus no-insect bumper cap.
Over 10 thousand people have purchased this from Amazon and it get great reviews. What a great idea.
