Most Comfortable Outdoor/Camping Chairs

A good outdoor chair is incredibly important to a great outdoor experience. Whether you’re camping, fishing, stargazing, or beachin’ it, those cheap big-box store specials just don’t cut it. You really won’t realize how much better a good folding chair can be until you sit in one.

One key to most comfortable outdoor/camping chairs is having a flat seat. Your basic cheapo chair has a saggy seat. I don’t care that it’s only $24.99 and has a cup holder. After sitting in this for a half hour, your skeleton will be in full revolt. Even if the cheapo chairs are deeply discounted, just keep walking.

Here are my all-time favorite and comfortable outdoor/camping and beach chairs:

Best Rocking Chair

Portable Rocking Chair
Take a gander at this puppy. See how flat the seat is? And it rocks!  What could be better?

The GCI Outdoor Freestyle Rocker camp chair delivers a smooth rocking action on any surface in the outdoors. Featuring padded armrests, built-in beverage holder, and a convenient carry handle, folding a camp chair open and closed has never been easier or safer with GCI Outdoor’s patented Eazy-fold Technology. The Freestyle Rocker is constructed of lightweight and sturdy powder-coated steel, supporting up to 250 pounds.

However, because it is made of lightweight materials, it can break if misused. It needs to be on a flat surface to operate properly, and the seat back is a very straight 90° angle. My wife likes that, but I prefer to recline more.

It folds flat, has a carry handle, and weighs only 12.1 lbs. It sells for $42.99*. 88% of owners give it five stars.

Best Stargazing Chairs

Zero Gravity Chair
This is the Zero Gravity Patio Lounge Chair. These comfy chairs will recline all the way back to 170°, opening your field of vision to the night sky.

See how flat and tight the fabric is? It will stay like that for years. When we watch the Perseids Meteor Shower every August, we’re stargazing for hours. I use the headrest cushion as a lumbar support and grab a pillow from the bed for my head.

The steel frame is a smidge heavy (33 lbs.) but ours have lasted for years and are still as good as new.

Many companies make these Zero Gravity Lounge Chairs. We paid almost twice as much for ours. These Homall brand chairs are currently a great price on Amazon. Click on image to learn more.

Most Comfortable Outdoor/Camping Chairs with Shade

Sun Shade Camping Chair
Again, a very flat seat and a shade canopy that stays where you put it.

This is the only chair I will use for fishing. At almost every angle, the canopy provides shade for your whole body. The previous shade chairs I used had larger canopies, but they would fly back with even a slight breeze. This canopy locks into place but still can be easily moved. The structural quality of the arms and seat provide the all-day comfort I need for reeling in the catch.

This SunShade Captain’s Chair is an aluminum and steel hard-arm chair that offers comfort and features an SPF sunshade – an adjustable shade that rotates approximately 270 degrees front to back and can collapse flat against the back. To maximize sun protection, the shade features UPF 50 fabric and a large bowed shape. Designed with hard arms, you’ll have a solid, supportive surface when sitting down or standing up. It offers a broad backrest with extra wide tension seat, and an adjustable beverage holder.

Includes a large-mouth carry bag, making packing and unpacking quick and simple. Easy to carry at just 9 lbs. $79.99* and worth every penny.

Best Backpack Beach Chair

Backpack Beach Chair
Many times that favorite hidden beach is accessible only by a path over lava or down a rocky incline. You need both hands for balance. Rio Beach Backpack Chair offers hands-free portability and is lightweight to carry, making it easy to take with you to the beach.

It’s the comfy seat that makes it my favorite, but the built-in cooler is the real icing on the cake. It features a four position back rest and a head pillow that is comfortable.  Beach chair frame is constructed of durable rust-proof aluminum, making it lightweight and easy to carry.

The backpack straps are wide so they don’t dig in to my shoulders. The whole thing weighs just 8 lbs! Just $60.13*.

Best Folding Beach Cart

Folding beach cart chair
Wagon Chair
Beach Day Folding Lounge Chair +Cargo Cart is perfect for trips to the beach. The cart with all terrain wheels makes it easier across the sand and transport the umbrella, cooler, towels and any other items from your car to the beach. When it is converted to lounger chair, the design of 4-position adjustable back can let you have your optimal position to enjoy the sun at the beach! With the all-important flat seat and a head pillow, it’s comfy.

When converted into an all-terrain cart it will tote 100 lbs. of gear. The rugged wheels easily roll over grass, pavement, or sand so you can cart your load from the car to the beach.

The tote handle adjusts length to accommodate any height individual.

It weighs 20 lbs and costs $117.84*. Your arms and shoulders will thank you!

Best Beach Lounge Chair

Sunbathing Patio Lounge Chair
Here’s my favorite Sunbathing Folding Adjustable Recliner. It has a unique hole for your face when lying face down. This is especially important for those of us who can not turn our heads 90° without discomfort.

This chaise lounge adopts ergonomic design to reduce muscle tension and stress, lies completely flat, and has a perfect balance between firmness and softness.

Padded pillows are removable to serve as a headrest or for other support purposes like face down.  You can even have a massage on this lounge chair! It is perfect outdoor chair for reclining and relaxation.

This lounge chaise is crafted from heavy-duty, breathable 600D Oxford fabric and steel frame. The fabric reflects the sun so it stays cool and is very breathable.

High quality materials give the lounge chair stability and durability, it can hold up to 330 pounds.

It weighs 16 lbs., $82.99*. Best chaise lounge chair
