Tiny House E-Courses and Workshops  can save you thousands of dollars and loads of time on your tiny house build.

Many tiny house pioneers have developed online courses in their field of expertise to help you get started on the road to tiny living. Here are the best ones.

Tiny Home Builders

tiny House workshop

Tiny Home Builders offers a great E-Workshop.

Are you interested in learning how to build a tiny house without the expense and time commitment of an off-site workshop? Tiny Home Builders  eWorkshop allows you to learn at your own pace for as long as you need, all without the costs of traveling.

Follow along with Dan Louche as he builds and teaches you how to build a tiny house from beginning to end. Watch as he explains and demonstrates each step along the way.

The lessons are ordered and broken up into small, easy to learn segments. It’s like attending a workshop in your own house, that you can then attend again and again, as many times as you want. A question and answer forum is also provided with each lesson, allowing you to ask questions and interact with other users on each specific topic.

Tiny Home Builders Hands-On Workshops

Catskills Tiny House Workshop

Catskills Hands-On Tiny House Workshop

Located in Livingston Manor, New York this workshop is an immersive hands-on experience. In addition to sharing their knowledge about designing, moving, and overseeing the building of tiny houses, they also share their HOUSES. Attendees get to explore and LIVE in the numerous small homes included in the workshop while they’re there. Fix a meal in one of the kitchens, check your mail via the WiFi, try out a composting toilet, start a fire in the woodstove, refill a water tank, then get a good night’s sleep in a cozy loft.

Class starts late Friday evening so people within driving distance don’t need extra time off work. It’s about 2 hours from New York City. You can camp on the premises or stay in one of the many tiny houses.
Catskills Hands-On Tiny House Workshop
Their upcoming class is scheduled for October 24-26, 2024. The next one after that is to be announced. They are very accommodating to the folks who want to attend. The Catskills Tiny House Workshop now offers one-day ‘teachables’. It’s the same program as their immersive two-day seminar but attendees only have to be there for a day AND a night. Exploring, using, and sleeping in the houses is an integral part of educating people about them.

The $495 fee* includes accommodations, continental breakfast, lunch, sample blueprints, sample written plans, a sample builder’s contract, a sample land rental agreement for a tiny house, and a how-to guide packed with building terms, definitions, and facts. Attendees learn literally EVERYTHING they need to know to design, move, and oversee the building of their small house.

She constructed her tiny home in 2011 and has been featured in Time and Dwell Magazines as well as many websites internationally. Plans available here. Her main goal is to help empower others with the knowledge they need to take their lifestyle into their own hands.

Macy has a great blog called Mini-Motives and also 9 E-Courses you can take:

Tiny House Design Part 1 – Codes and Foundation Selection

Tiny house E-Workshops
“This is going to be a conversation around local and national code issues surrounding tiny houses. I will talk about the options you have both locally (to you) and nationally, focusing on the permitting process and alternative paths to legalized tiny house living.

As a part of this conversation I will explain the difference between a foundation tiny house and a tiny house on wheels (legally) and the process that each must go through. The MAIN focus of this course will be tiny houses on wheels so I will get into the considerations that will go into picking your foundation (trailer) including both new and used options.

There are approximately 2 hours of information relating to history, zoning, codes and foundations – as they apply to tiny homes. This course is formatted to provide the information relevant to you and enable you to make the best decision for yourself. If you are excited about tiny houses and how they may empower you this course is for you!”

Macy’s other courses include:

Macy Miller E-Workshp Full Time RV Living

Tiny House Design Part 2 – Construction

Tiny House Design Part 3 – Utilities and Systems

Tiny House Design Part 4 – Custom Design

Full-Time RV Travel

In this course I will talk about everything including: Why travel is important (for you AND kids!), what sort of RVs might work best for you, relationships, mail, jobs, insurance, safety issues, towing, weather concerns, our best tips, and more.

Ashley Mann of RV Inspirations

Downsizing Course
Ashley Mann and husband Josiah live in their 38′ 5th wheel near Kansas City. She has a great blog called RV Inspiration.

She has courses on decluttering and downsizing. See them here.

“The idea of living with less stuff may sound great, but the reality of downsizing and getting rid of things can be overwhelming and even emotional.

If you are the sentimental type (like me!) who hangs on to things “just in case” or because of the memories they represent, this course will help you work up gradually to dealing with more difficult items after you first gain some momentum and taste the freedom that letting go can bring.

On the other hand, maybe you are eager to be rid of your excess clutter but just don’t know where to begin with the task. This course is for you, too, as it offers practical, actionable steps to help you get the ball rolling.”
