Winegard and Starlink Team Up for Mobile Internet
Winegard is now offering a Starlink Flat High-Performance Satellite antenna kit for RVs and motor homes that lets you receive WiFi while moving. It doesn’t look like much, but it will allow you to receive WiFi even while driving down the road.
The monthly service charge for “In-Motion” is a reasonable $135.00*/mth. But the antenna costs $2500.00*. It’s 22.7″ long and 20.1″ wide. It’s only 1.6″ thick and has no moving parts. The larger size allows the dish to lay almost flat but still have a 140° vision of the sky. It’s designed to withstand 170 MPH winds.
The Starlink Flat High-Performance dish includes its own 320 watt POE (power over Ethernet) power supply that plugs into a standard 110 volt AC outlet and delivers the 110-150 watts the antenna needs to operate.
The cable that goes from the power supply to the dish is only 26′ long. They do not offer a longer one. The dish is meant to be permanently mounted on the roof of your RV so it’s secure when you are traveling down the road at highway speeds. However, this might limit your parking spots. If you want to park in the shade under trees, you might not get very good service or none at all.
No longer included with the “Dishey” is a router that needs to plug in to an AC outlet too. You actually don’t need to use this router if you have a better one. You’ll just need their proprietary cable that connects to the power supply and ends in the standard Ethernet plug.
I can’t find the dimensions of the router or power supply anywhere, but they look to be the same size and quite large. Both have included wall mounts.
Low Priority Service
The Starlink In-Motion RV service plan can be “De-Prioritized” in certain situations. This means if you are in a high density area where many people are using Starlink, your service will be given a low priority. Service could be slow or spotty. When you’re out on the open road away from cities, the service should be good.

Starlink Offers Another “Dishey” Antenna for RVs
Similar in shape and size, Starlink offers a high-performance satellite antenna, called a Dishey, with a mounting pole on the back. It has the same wide angle of view, but not the wind resistance. It’s not designed or FCC approved for being used while in motion. However, it comes with a 125′ cable. You can move it into a clearing if you decide to park you rig under the trees.
High Priority Service
Because this Starlink residential service is tied to a fixed address, it is given “high-priority.” In some high-density situations it can out preform the Flat High Performance antenna.
Unlimited Dishey mounting options
A small tripod is included with the “Dishey,” but the design allows many other clever mounting situations for an RV or even a boat.
Here’s a mounting bracket that easily mounts to the ladder of an RV. It get the dish high above any obstructions and can also be used as a flagpole.

Storing your Dishey safely
Many folks suggest storing your Starlink Dishy in a Pelican Box of the appropriate size. These boxes are military-tough and come filled with foam that is easily cut to size.
The Pelican Box shown here will accommodate the satellite antenna, tripod, and all other included accessories. Once the lid is secured you can toss it into your storage bin without worry of damage.
The folks at Nerd Techy suggest inserting the plastic packaging from the delivery box into a 17 gallon tote box to keep the parts safe and secure.
